This review is from: 4 Port USB 2.0 Travel Hub Aluminum with Power AdapterI have a USB connection to my APC UPS unit, but it kept giving me connection errors on my Vista. I bought this at Fry's for $15 and connected it between the computer and the USB connection from the APC without the power supply plugged in. Still gave me errors. I plugged in the power supply. It worked fine since then without errors. The computer wasn't pumping enough power from the USB port. Power supply might be advisable for USB connections that demand a heavy load such as external hard drives, digital cameras, and digital sound recorders. If you don't buy this model from this brand, buy another USB hub with a power supply (usually DC) from another company if you wish to use a heavy loaded USB connection.
It's been one week later on March 30. The problem is when the computer went from sleep mode back to waking mode, the computer doesn't recognize the USB hub. I had to unplug and replug the USB plug in order to get the computer to recognize the USB hub again. I returned it to the store that day....
