This review is from: Dynex DX-B4PORT USB 2.0 4-Port Hubreally its an ok 4 port usb hub or i should say atleast in my case. it was a good 3 port usb hub. the top usb port DID NOT work. but the seller i bought it from did refund my money including the shipping. and i did not need to ship the hub back....
This review is from: Dynex DX-B4PORT USB 2.0 4-Port HubI bought this from Best Buy at the same time that I bought a Logitech F310 from there. I had some money left on the gift card I was using and I needed a USB hub anyway. My choices were this powered up and an apparently non-powered hub with "retractable" cords. Given my bad experience with those kinds of cords, I picked this one.
Overall, I'm perfectly happy with my purchase. It works fine with no issues most of the time. It can work as a powered USB hub or as a non-powered one, which can be useful in some circumstances. I have encountered some issues, though, which I'll describe here.
First off, the power supply cord is REALLY short. I'd say it's no more than 5 feet. This isn't always a problem, and luckily, my setup at my desk makes the length a non-issue, but there have been many occasions where it was just not long enough, so I either had to use the hub without wall power or attempt to reposition the hub so it was close enough to an outlet. Luckily, this issue can easily be solved with a simple extension cord. In case you're wondering, the length of the USB standard-A to mini-B cable you use to connect the USB hub to your computer is also about 5 feet, but for that purpose, it works just fine.
Second, The hub has suddenly disconnected on some occasions. This is actually quite a rare occurrence, but it has happened. My experience has been that it usually only happens while the device is non-powered. The last time it happened to me was when I cut power from it by pulling out the power adapter from the hub while leaving it plugged into the USB port. Oddly, reconnecting the power caused it to reconnect, but cutting the power by unplugging the adapter from the power strip it was plugged into had no effect. Also, when I attempted to cause it to disconnect in the same way just now, it stayed connected.
I have not experienced any bad port issues like the one described in one of the other reviews here. All 4 ports seem to work just fine. I usually use the 3 ports on the side for things like game controllers, while I use the port on the top for things like wireless receivers and USB thumb drives. My mouse receiver is plugged into the top port right now and the mouse is working just fine. I can only assume that it was simply a bad unit.
Also, every device I have tried to use with this hub have worked flawlessly, except for one SanDisk USB thumb drive which doesn't seem to work perfectly regardless of where it's plugged in.
Like I said, this is a perfectly fine USB hub. If you can get it for a decent price, don't be afraid to buy it....
This review is from: Dynex DX-B4PORT USB 2.0 4-Port HubThis hub did not work at all. Nothing - not my iphone, ipad, nor scanner - connected with this piece of junk. It also didn't come in the packaging as pictured but a generic plastic bag. Shady. Will see whether I can get my money back....
