This review is from: LaCie Hub4 USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Hub 131102KUAHub is small, compact and well designed. All wires are long enough to make placement easy. There are lights on the front that indicate when something is in use.
My limited experience as of two days, is that speed does slow somewhat when running two USB 3 WD external drives. But it doesn't slow a lot and to my way of thinking, that's pretty good performance.
When I initially installed the hub, it was running at usb 2 speed and sometimes wasn't being recognized at all. I was using the same peripherals and the speed was about 4 to 5 times slower. Running i7 930 Asus board with two built in usb 3 ports, win 7 64 bit, plenty of ram etc.
I called LaCie and spoke to a very nice man from tech support who didn't know what could be the matter and gave me a ticket number so I could return it to Amazon. MEANWHILE - I figured out that the USB 3 drivers and the NEC USB controller firmware on my motherboard were about 7 months old and might have updates available. Went to the Asus site, found the updates and installed them. The hub now seems to work flawlessly with a minor speed drop when 2 drives are running, and it's always recognized.
So - update your drivers and controller firmware and I think you'll enjoy this hub very much.

I've used this HUB with [the use of a SONY VAIO F SERIES USB 3.0 PORT]: 1 x Lacie Rugged HDD, 2 x USB Sticks [a USB 3.0 stick and a USB 2.0 stick] and the 4th plug for powering the external laptop speakers I use. With the AC plugged in as well, all of the devices worked flawlessly.
