Apc USB2.0 7 Port Hub

With the APC 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub Plug-in up to 7 Hi-Speed USB Devices

Use with printers, external hard drives, digital media players, cameras, scanners and other USB Devices

This review is from: Apc USB2.0 7 Port HubI purchased the APC hub because APC makes quality UPSes, and I assumed the same for their hub. It looks well-made and seems very sturdy, except for its peculiar base, which makes it unstable with cables attached. The base is easily detachable by sliding it off the bottom of the hub. I turned the hub on its side, added 4 peel and stick clear rubber feet (purchased at my local "red bulls-eye" department store) to one side of the hub and voila--a nice, stable, powered 7 port USB 2 hub for under 15 dollars, including shipping. 2 ports face the front, 5 ports, the USB power and data cables are on the back side. There is a small green power light and each port has a blue light to show a device attached to the port. The port lights do not flash when sending data. It comes with a power supply and a USB 2 A-B cable. The hubs have individual serial numbers, and are warranted for 2 years. The included A-B cable is warranted for life. I'm very satisfied with my new hub.

This product is not listed on the APC web site, although they do list other USB hubs....

This review is from: Apc USB2.0 7 Port HubThe hub works well overall.

The stand is very light and flimsy so any cable pressure will drag

the unit around or topple it. My stand in particular was not level

so I had to bend it a little to prevent it from wobbling.

An external 2.5" portable drive seems to work fine when plugged into

the hub.

However, even though it is a "powered" hub it does not provide enough

power to charge an iPad (to be fair a lot of PC laptops don't either).

An iPhone was also a bit fiddly as far as getting recognized by iTunes

and getting charged - likely because there is borderline enough power

for it.

Expect to have to charge iPads with a recent Mac's built-in USB port

or external power supply, and iPhones with a Mac/PC's built-in USB

port or external power supply.

The main reasons to get this hub over others (powered or unpowered) are

the good number of ports (7), the fact that it does seem to power external

laptop drives well, and the hopefully better quality and longevity over

other brands (I've read some scary reviews about other powered hubs frying

devices that were plugged into them)....

This review is from: Apc USB2.0 7 Port HubAfter doing some research online to find a 7-port USB Hub, I discovered the APC 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub on this seller's page. It is an outstanding product and the price made it more attractive, so I bought two of them. They were shipped quickly and I am very happy to have them. I'd highly recommend this seller....
